The sieve in the teapot ( not visible from the outside ) means that inside the teapot there are holes in the porcelain between the mouth of the funnel and the liquid compartment itself, which will hold the tea bag or tea leaves and therefore will not clog the funnel. This so-called strainer cannot be removed and is a fixed part of the product.
The onion painting is under the glaze, which makes the bulb suitable for microwave and dishwasher use.
The painting can only be disturbed by breaking the bulb.
( The glaze is a thin glassy coating on the surface of the products.)
